Where do you source the cocoa used in your Almond Chocolate M*lk? Is it Fairtrade?
Our Almond Chocolate uses cocoa that is sourced globally, and it is not Fair Trade Certified. However, we ensure that our supplier adheres to a Code of Conduct that is grounded in their 7 Guiding Principals, this also means that their suppliers must also follow this.
The 7 Guiding Principals are as follows:
- We obey the law.
- We conduct our business with integrity.
- We keep accurate and honest records.
- We honor our business obligations.
- We treat people with dignity and respect.
- Provide safe and healthy working conditions at all of their operations
- Never use or tolerate the use of human trafficking, forced labor, or child labor as defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO)
- Foster an inclusive work environment that is free of harassment and discrimination
- Respect employees’ rights to organize and bargain collectively
- Meet or exceed all legal requirements for compensation and working conditions
- We are committed to being a responsible global citizen.
Although this cocoa is not Fair Trade Certified, our supplier’s Code of Conduct echoes the definition for Fair Trade, which is a designation developed to help consumers support products that come from farms that have been certified to provide fair wages and safe working conditions. This includes that forced child labor is prohibited.
